ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

For the first time in the history of Lithuania, an exceptional high-level conference on the challenges and digital opportunities at sea in the context of twin transition will be organized by the AgriFood Lithuania DIH. It will be the only event in Lithuania and one of a few events in Central and Northern Europe that has received the right to be a part of the European Commission European Maritime Day initiative.

There are really many challenges in the Baltic Sea. It is the fourth most polluted sea in the world, transporting about 15% of all cargoes in the world. In addition, it is severely affected by chemicals and eutrophication.

The conference will discuss current issues and seek solutions that can promote the development of green ports, reduce pollution and the impact of shipping, preserve natural biodiversity, strengthen food value chains, increase the contribution of marine energy, help make more efficient use of logistics solutions and create a socially friendly environment for all.

The growing importance of the blue economy is important for various sectors including food, logistics, renewable energy, tourism, etc. The main goal of the conference is to agree and sign a memorandum on the digital solutions necessary to empower the development of sustainable blue economy models in the Baltic Sea.
